Cool How To Make SilkRoad Private Server Working On Patch 1.157

::STEP1::

OPEN:
1.)My computer
2.)C:
3.)windows
4.)system32
4.)drivers
5.)etc

Now you'll see a file calleds "Hosts"

(For you techies out there)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Now here's where it can get sorta tricky for those who have no idea what you're talking about. To know what we're doing, you need to understand what editing this part does. Let us begin.

Right click on the file "Hosts" and click "Properties". You'll probably notice that the read-only box is checked UNCHECK THIS BOX and hit "APPLY" and "OK". Once this is done right click on the file again and click "OPEN". This will bring up a box where you'll need to select which program you want to edit the file with. Select "NOTEPAD"
or "WORD".

Once you've done this you will see something like this!

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost

Now I know you're like, "WTF IS THIS SHIT DUDE?". It's very simple really See all of those #'s? Those are just markers that tell whatever reads this file not to read that line. (Yep that means if you type # and a sentence It'll skip it) Magical, I know. So what about the lines it does read? Very simple It's like a crossway and a some road signs.

Let's say Localhost is you and 127.0.0.1 is a road that leads right back to you. What happens you take that road? You got right back to "You". Hence the name Loop-back number. So what we need to do is loop all connections sent to the Joymax server, to you and your server instead.

(You can get the server information by using an SRO media patcher, but you won't need it.)

So what you will need to do is

Paste

# Start of SROPvS
127.0.0.1 gwgt1.joymax.com
127.0.0.1 gwgt2.joymax.com
# END of SROPvS

Right below

127.0.0.1 localhost

This needs no explanation as I've already explained what you're doing here. Save the file and close it.

::STEP2::

Now extract the client loader to your silkroad directory.
(I'll assume you know where this is) and create a shortcut to it on your desktop. You don't need to, but I'd recommend it.

You can also extract the Server files there if you so wish, but
you don't need to have them there.

Start up the server by double clicking the server's exe. If you
get an mswinsck error don't fret. Install the library files that came
with the pack, and do it again.

Once you have the server open use the loader to start silkroad.
You will now see your server on the list! You can use your Server
GUI(Graphical user interface) to setup your own character or use the default
which I believe is.

user:SREmu
pass:test

You can also go to where ever you extract the server, and under the accounts folder you will see an .ini file which you can edit. Double click
it and you can change your username and password.

When you open silkroad you will now see your server in the list. However,
you will not be able to connect. I haven't figured out why this happens
as I've had it working before I wrote this tutorial. (Client 1.157 I think)
You're welcome to try though.

(PLEASE REMEMBER TO NOTE)
If you want to play normal SRO on the same PC again you will need to do this:

# Start of SROPvS
#127.0.0.1 gwgt1.joymax.com
#127.0.0.1 gwgt2.joymax.com
# END of SROPvS
